Whitewater rafting on the Salmon River, in central Idaho (near the Montana border) is a great family vacation adventure. We are located on the edge of the largest wilderness area in the continental United States. We offer a tremendous wilderness adventure that can range from the truly wild, to a comfort level could only be called a wilderness resort. Sleep in a outdoor camp, or a comfy lodge, it’s your choice.North Fork Guides is an experienced fishing and rafting guide company, headquartered in the tiny town of North Fork, Idaho.  We specialize in trips down the Main Salmon River which is the gateway to the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness area.  We are a small river float company by choice, priding ourselves on the excellent quality of our expeditions.

We specialize in personalized river trips but can accommodate larger groups upon request.  Our trips are wonderful family vacations suitable for ages five and up. We are also greatly loved by professional groups on vacation.

We are a local company and reside here year-round.  Our guides are mature, interesting local personalities, knowledgeable about the natural history, archaeology, and geology of the area.  We love the beauty and grandeur of this great river wilderness and are excited about sharing it with you.

We deliver the complete wilderness experience.  Each day will see white water and leisure floating with stops for lunch and sight-seeing.  Your mornings will come alive to the aroma of fresh coffee brewed over an open fire. Superior Dutch Oven Cooking! You savor crisp fried baconwith stuffed french toast or apple flapjacks topped with real maple syrup.  Day’s end will find you relaxing around the campfire enjoying a great gourmet dutch oven recipe such as salmon filets sautéed in our own savory sauce, mouth-watering Prime Rib, a tossed green or seafood salad, fresh fruit, and a dutch oven cherry cobbler smothered in whipped cream.  (Our meals and beverages never cease to amaze our guests.)  The trip ends either with an exciting jet boat ride back up the Salmon or shuttle transportation to North Fork or Boise.

 

To assure that your wilderness travel and Idaho whitewater rafting adventure will be successful we provide sleeping bags, tents, mattresses and waterproof bags for your personal items and cameras dry.  All you need to bring is your toothbrush and your sense of adventure.  We want you to experience rafting on Idaho’s Salmon river as a fun vacation. Comfort is the name of the game.

Our rafts and dories are oar-powered by an experienced guide.  However, should the more “hardy” desire an intimate relationship with certain rapids, they may enjoy one of our self-bailing, inflatable kayaks or muster a party for a paddle raft. Dorie on the Salmon
